ACMA Takes Action Against Illegal Gambling Websites to Protect Australians

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has mandated that all Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block access to illegal gambling websites in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. This initiative aims to safeguard Australians from unregulated gambling services.

According to ACMA’s website, these illegal activities include providing prohibited interactive gambling services, such as online casinos or slot machines, to Australian customers. Additionally, offering regulated interactive gambling services without a valid Australian license and advertising prohibited or unlicensed gambling services in Australia are also breaches of the Act.

Recently, several sites have been added to the blocked list, including Jogi Casino, Dundee Slots, Lucky Hunter, Lucky Wins, Lukki Casino, Spin Fever, Clubhouse Casino, and Winport Casino.

Since 2019, ACMA has blocked 975 illegal gambling sites and their related websites. The organization has also enforced regulations against illegal offshore gambling, leading to the withdrawal of over 220 illegal services from the Australian market. The crackdown during the Women’s World Cup is a notable example of these efforts.

Earlier this year, in March, ACMA also blocked multiple illegal sites, including Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet.

ACMA has issued several warnings to operators found in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. These warnings have been directed at entities such as Mad Entertainment (Golden Lion), Paloma Media (Thunderpick), and Dama and Friolion (Betibet).
